Amarina’s Philosophy
To discover another culture or another country, we must first accept our differences as sources of knowledge and opportunity. There is nothing more important than sharing in order to learn.
Since its opening, Amarina has sought to promote the opportunity for learning as a guarantor for the future. The entire staff comes from the neighbouring villages. In a search for sustainable development, we seek to create jobs, offer careers, share common objectives, and live together in harmony, both with one another and with the surrounding environment. We have chosen, therefore, to provide a warm, unique and genuine service rather than to reproduce the stereotypes of other places without heart nor soul.
Amarina Hotel is actively involved in the development of sustainable tourism. We are dedicated to protecting the environment and to respectful management principles which seek to encourage development, socio-cultural integration, and fight sexual tourism. Amarina Hotel therefore respects local customs, values and ancestral traditions. We participate in the preservation of these practices and honour periodic ceremonies around the sacred tree, the respect of certain taboos, and the protection of sacred sites such as Nosy Fanihy. We are involved in various sponsorship activities and work in partnership with different local organizations to promote, support and develop local arts.
Amarina Hotel has built a medical clinic to provide free first aid and medical support for the population of the villages of north-western Nosy Be. The hotel seeks constantly to fund schooling or other projects associated to basic needs.
We hope you will welcome our philosophy and share in the need for responsible tourism. Your visit is a sign of enrichment and improvement in the lives of a local population. Our wish is to thus achieve a harmony between the traveler and the people of Nosy Be.
